schitsu'umsh Curriculum Collection

Curriculum seasonal units built by the Coeur d'Alene Tribe incorporating traditional language and teaching with western science.

The CRIS (Culturally Responsive Indigenous Science) curriculum was created to provide science components from an indigenous standpoint relevant to tribal communities. The four units created around teachings from the Coeur d'Alene Tribe are sch'edp (Fall), sit.sit'kw (Winter), setqaps (Spring), yalstq (Summer). Our four units will consist of tradional language and teachings on hunting, harvesting traditional foods, story tellings, and plants while also combining western science of mapping, water testing, and botany.
